I’m a little upset …

Something is upsetting me.
That’s actually putting it very kindly.
I am down right bothered to tell the truth!
About what you might ask?
Well, let me tell you!
About a month ago I was in a meeting, that was by mistake it seemed because it had nothing to do with me, and was informed that things in that section where going to change.
So, that very day I find out that my supervisors supervisor was being transferred.
OK, that king of sucked.
I mean I had know and worked with this person for years now and we had a good working understanding of each other.
Then, about 2 weeks ago my supervisor got moved to another position against his will as well.
This one was a shocker, I mean he had been doing the job for about 10 years.
All of this leads us to me saying that we have new management … we all know how that works out don’t we?

So now we have to bounce back about 2 weeks … this would be a lot more fun if we had like a magical time traveling trampoline now wouldn’t it?
I am going through my morning list of opening things up and a blue car I have never scene pulls up and is just sitting in the parking lot.
I assume based on my, well exceptional knowledge of the Departments fleet as I worked over it for 7+ years, that this is a civilians vehicle and they are waiting for there loved one to get out of prison and made a wrong turn ending up here.
They said hello, and I said hello back life goes on as I walk away.
I walk into my building and do the rest of my morning jobs about 70 yards away from and with a building between us from where this person is.
Low and behold, I find out latter that this person was in fact in an unmarked department car and was honking her horn trying to get my attention after I had entered the building because she didn’t want to pump her own gas and wanted me to do it for her.
Um, sure, if I had known I would have because that’s the kind of guy I am.
But once I am inside a solid poured block building 70 yards away with another building between us … well it gets a little hard to hear you.

Well, it turns out that this person was a high ranking person in the region, and also dating another high ranking person.
So, I got an ear full and was told to be nicer because I was rude and unhelpful.
Yep, everyone who has heard this story laughs because they all know me at work and rude is not something I am.
Even the inmates say I am a nice guy.
OK, though, one verbal smack on the wrist in 10 years I can deal with.

So, yesterday I am getting ready to go back to my office when my boss’s boss says he needs to talk to me.
He then calls my new immediate supervisor in and the door gets shut.
Yep, what in the world is going on now?
So the bigger boss looks up and says that starting Monday I will no longer be helping out in automotive.
He said I have helped them out long enough and that I need to come back over and work with them again.
OK I think that he just slipped up and said Automotive instead of Maintenance
I look over to my immediate supervisor who has a slight jaw drop and look of shock.
I am immediately asked if I have my CDL and if I would like to go to a very good position that is in my ways not only a raise but one of the best jobs at the Prison.
I said no and was then told I would be staying on my shift and would get to figure out what I wanted to do.
Um, OK, am I in trouble or not?
I then asked why I was getting moved and the only response I got was “We have already spoken about one of the reasons.”
So, I say my farewells and let them know if who ever gets the job needs my help to just have them reach me and I walk out.
I am walking around in a daze and people are asking me what’s wrong and I just say stuff on my mind but I go to a couple of people and ask if they knew about it.
The answer was no all around and a look of shock and surprise.
Here is why …
1) The Maintenance Superintendent is out for another month on medical leave
2) We have a Big Audit on Tuesday and I am the only one who knows what’s going on down there.

So, I put on my good employee face and did what anyone in my shoes would have.
I went down and got everything ready for the big audit, got back and then packed up all of my stuff.
I called my boss and told him I was leaving early, taking Monday off and reminded him I was going to school on Tuesday.
I then walked up to the Administration building and informed all of the Wardens staff of the situation, who had no clue about any of this I might add.
I told them what all I did as preparation, what all still needed to be done, and then walked in and turned my keys leaving for the day.

I don’t know what is going on.
I guess I am not in real trouble being that once again nothing on paper and I am not under investigation.
My job was done well and so much so that it should even be covered for the next guy for some time.
But, I liked what I did.
I injoyed the people and the freedoms it allotted.

I will keep you all in the loop, but it looks like I will be watching inmates push lawnmowers for now on.
Still not a bad job, just not the best job at the prison.
Yea, that’s right, I will still not be working for a living!

I can’t wait to get back Wednesday and see what the heck is going on, and possibly why?
I have some suspicions, and if they are right I feel bad for the people I just left because I am afraid they are trying to burn them … I have always been the guy who kept them out of the fire … now I am gone.
This might get really ugly really fast …
